Every Year our district has an Art Show displayed at the Mall. I teach in a district with some of the most talented Art Educators in the world. I am so lucky!
Here are a few of my displays below…
The rest are just a FEW of the hundreds of spectacular student artworks on display this year from various schools.

The Flying Dutchman
I really am enjoying teaching this lesson. Our fifth graders went to the Symphony to see the Flying Dutchman Opera by Robert Wagner (1843). There was a meteorologist who taught them about clouds that are high and low and integrated it into the historic legend of the Flying Dutchman! We read a few books about the legend and the kids were hooked, so it is fully integrated with science, music, history, and literature. Here are the first finished products of the flying ghost ship!

The Flying Dutchman, Spring Hatchlings, and Archimbaldo Silhouettes!!
While the 1st-2nd graders have been busy finishing their peacocks, the kinder and fifth have been starting new projects. The fifth graders went to the symphony and learned about the ghostly Flying Dutchman. We are making these silhouettes with chalk pastels. I will post the results tomorrow!
Kindergarten Spring Hatch-Lings!!
Kinder went on a Spring walk today and picked up sticks to make this nest. We used cotton balls shaken in a bag with powdered tempera for the chicks. They had so much fun and they ALL did a wonderful job!
Fifth Grade has just finished their Archimbaldo Self Expression Silhouettes. I have posted this project before here http://www.elementaryartfun.blogspot.com/search/label/Archimbaldo
This year we added the spray paint element. The kids could use a stencil or make one. I love the ones they designed themselves!

First we painted with Cool Colors using large brushes and texture rollers
then warm colors
they did not paint their arms for the neck, it was added with the brush
Then cut, assemble, glue, and add feathers to the neck with pearlescent paint mixed with blue liquid watercolor.
I will add the kid’s finished products to this post next week.
