Today we went on a nature walk in our courtyard to find some wild flowers for a still life. We found/rescued this little monarch caterpillar and gave him some milk weed to hang out on for a while so we could draw him before we placed him in our school garden.
the students enjoyed getting outside to find all kinds of plants and wild flowers
we placed the flora (and fauna) in tp tubes to help get a better point of view
this little plant was my favorite…not sure what it is…

Inspire Childhood
I took this picture yesterday at a photo shoot, and to me it captures the essence of childhood. She was so happy with her chalk and bubbles, just don’t try to take them away!! I feel like as an art educator there is so much that WE can learn from the children. Hear their ideas, inspire them, but also be inspired BY them. Every day my daughter wakes up and says in an excited voice “Mommy, I WOKE Up!!” She greets each new day with a smile and is happy that its just that….a NEW day. Kids have ideas about the world because they see it differently. I encourage you to take a moment in your class time to just listen. Let them share something that might inspire YOU!

Happy Easter!
Egg decorating tip…
Use crayons on hard boiled eggs while they are still hot from boiling. The crayon melts onto the egg like butter allowing for bright colorful designs, easy for a toddlers hand since you don’t need to apply any pressure to get bold bright lines! Then dip into egg dye (from PAAS kit) and voila! Beautiful!
