Happy Valentine's Day

I'm not getting paid to endorse Crayola, but I LOVE Crayola Watercolor pencils! Have you tried them?
This project is fun and easy for one class period. Just color cool colors on the outside of the heart and warm colors inside, then paint with water and listen to the kids OHH and AHH!!

Finished Heart Sculptures

Today the kids finished their super awesome Valentine's Heart Sculptures! You can see how we made the armatures and added paper mache and plaster craft HERE and HERE

They painted with tempera paint and acrylic paint. Some students wrote poems on their heart with paint gold pens.

Splatter painting was popular with this class!

I LOVE this eye ball with heart shaped pupil! I love when they think outside the box!

Some kids put Mod Podge on their sculpture to make it really glossy like the "Be Mine" below

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Valentine's Day Trees

First, paint the hand and stamp it in the middle
Then paint the tree trunk with a paint brush (not your arm)
Then use finger tips to make the heart leaves

Then add details with paper scraps, and oil pastels

heART Sculptures

We have finished up our blue dog inspired animals (post to come) and have started working on some works of heART! Students made heart shaped armatures with crumbled paper and masking tape

this student wanted to make an eye ball....when they get inspired you just have to go with it...she said the pupil will be a heart!

they added details with poster board

I was very impressed with how creative they got!!! Each one is so unique

Then we used plast'r craft to cover them

Next week we will use tempera paint to paint them, varnish them with Mod Podge gloss, and add details with gold paint pens!! I will post pics of the finished products next week!!!

They dry very hard and solid in about an hour
