Shaving Cream Marbleized Starry Night Cactus!

My fifth graders are having SO much fun making these!!!

For this project you will need:
watercolor paper
shaving cream
liquid watercolor or food coloring
scraper
paint brush
watercolor pencils

-First, spread shaving cream on the table the size of your paper
-Then drip the paint directly on the shaving cream where you want your cactus to go
- Then drip blue and turquoise paint around the green drips for the sky
-finally a few tiny drips of yellow for moon and stars, plus red or pink for the flowers

Next you will use the back end of a paint brush to make tiny swirls. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that the brush TOUCHES the table and stands STRAIGHT UP, if it leans and isn't straight up and down it will not work

 - Next place the paper directly on the shaving cream and tap it gently to release and air bubbles
Lift the paper

and use a scraper to scrape ALL the shaving cream off the paper. This is when everyone gets excited! You will hear OOOOhs and AAAAHHHHs!!! IF you miss any it will be blurry, so make sure to get it all off

When you are finished with the print you can use watercolor pencils dipped in water to outline your cactus. You can also use pan watercolors to fill in the edges or add more color. Another fun material to use is Reeves water soluble oil pastels dipped in water.

Clean up is always the BEST PART for this project!!!

Art to Remember Peacocks, Zentangle Animals, Trees, Hand Print Fish

This year we are doing a fundraiser with Art to Remember. This is a fabulous company that turns your student's artwork into all kinds of cool products!

You can click the link on the Art To Remember advertisement on the side of my blog to learn more!!

Here is the lesson plan for the peacocks

***FEATURED APP**
The video above was made using the free App "Motion Portrait"
It is SO fun, just draw or paint a picture of someone, take a photo, and bring it to LIFE!!

Third graders made these cool trees!

5th graders made a zentangle animal with a gradation value background. They turned out SO beautiful!!

The kindergarten and 1st graders made colorful hand print fish tanks! They were SO cute!

The company made it very easy by providing labels for each child's art. After labeling we packed them up and sent them off to be printed.

Next we received an order form for every child with a picture of their artwork on the front and inside were pictures of all the fabulous items you can purchase!

We have collected all of our order forms at this point and sent them in. We are anxiously awaiting our gifts to come just in time for Christmas!! I cannot wait to make my next post when we get all of our Art To Remember products!! Visit my blog next week to see some happy kids with their purchases!!!

Here's a Holiday Draw-a-long of the Grinch to try!!

Shrimp, BunBun, and Rudy wish you a VERY Merry Christmas!!!

Shaving Cream Fun Peacocks!

This week, second graders are finishing their marbleized peacock paintings. It has been so fun to watch their reactions to the shaving cream which is a HUGE crowd pleaser! We made the heads the first week with markers and painted the middle with sparkly water. The eyes and beaks were colored with oil pastels.

Here is a link to the marbleizing directions HERE

We made the head the first week and the spots the second week

they used black crayons to draw the spots, then colored them with markers. They used sparkly water to paint the markers. I have been putting glitter glaze or glitter paint in the paint water, when we paint markers. The kids LOVE being surprised by the sparkles

I have had many people ask about the liquid watercolor. Here is a quick link to the brand that I use if you want to get some. They are AWESOME!
